Since March 2020, many SLPs have been providing services in schools via telepractice. In fact, according to an October 2020 ASHA survey, 91.5% of SLPs surveyed reported that they provided telepractice services in schools-- compared to 5.1% prior to the COVID-19 pandemic (ASHA, 2020). If you are a telepractice SLP, maybe you are an employee or independent contractor for a company that serves schools nationwide. Or maybe you've decided to start your own telepractice business and want to scale your business by contracting with schools directly, allowing you to eliminate the middle man and maximize your own profits.
Some of the benefits of contracting directly with schools are:
- Growing your business
- Having a steady stream of referrals
- Controlling where (in what states) and when you work
- Working on your terms
